Saturday Night - The Unofficial Night of Halloween

Tonight is the Saturday before Halloween, which makes it the unofficial celebration of Halloween. Especially for party-goers!

Here are a few tips and tricks to make your Halloween night a treat!

  • If you are going to a party, make sure to make yourself something to eat before you leave. Have a nice big salad. Plan ahead so you won't be starving at the party.
  • Bring a bottle of water with you. You will probably want something to drink besides diet cola.
  • Bring a green smoothie with you, and call it "swamp water", or "the Creature From the Black Lagoon", or Frankenstein's favorite beverage. Be light about the conversation surrounding your green goo and you just might get someone interested in green smoothies!
  • If there is candy there, and you want to eat it, pick one candy. Pick your absolute favorite that you haven't had in ten years. Take a moment away from the rest of the party, and try to savor it. Just a word of warning - it will most likely not taste as good as you might think. This can be a wake up call that raw food really does taste better than what we imagine!
  • If you know you are going to a giant drunkfest, and you are going to drink alcohol, bring organic wine to the party instead of reaching for the keg. If it is a big party you might want to hide your special wine away, or ask the hostess to put it in a special spot for you.
  • Bring a Larabar, trail mix or some dehydrated snacks in your bag or purse. You will probably be having so much fun that you won't want to leave to go eat raw food!
  • If there is a fruit or vegetable tray, raid it!
  • There will be people at the party that just want to stuff their faces, or drink alcohol until they puke. Try your best to avoid these people because they will want to bring you into temptation. And they might want to puke on you. Not cool.
  • Before you enter the party, take a moment to plan out your ideal party situation. Perhaps you want to remind yourself that you are there to see friends and meet people, and not to gorge on candy and alcohol. Perhaps there is one person you really want to talk to - so make a point to find this person and spend time with them.
  • Stay positive, and celebrate. This is a party!

We will have more Halloween coverage leading up to the official night of Halloween, so stay tuned!

Right on! These are great tips for a fun and safe night of ghoulish pleasures! I am a big fan of sparkling water or club soda and lots of fresh lime juice. It still feels like you're having a cocktail but without the yucky feeling the next day. A little carbonation is easier to deal with than a bunch of alcohol in the liver.

Have a CREEPY weekend!

We went to a party last night. I ate lots of yumy sweet fruit before I went and drank a smoothie on the way over. Succumbed to a small handful of chips, but other than that, drank my water and had a wonder~full time!

Thanks for the tips and encouragement!
