Heidi's Juice Feast: Day One

Juice FeastingI feel like I drank this much green juice today!

Day One! One down, 91 more to go...and a whole bunch of days before I will be back to eating "normal" food once again.

Date: Friday January 25th - Day One

Daily Juice & Supplements:

20 oz. Water with juice of approx. 1/2 lemon, with MSM
36 oz. Green juice - cucumber, one head of celery, red leaf lettuce, apples, lemon, ginger
20 oz. Water with juice of approx. 1/2 lemon, with MSM
32 oz. Green juice - cucumber, celery, fennel, apples, red pepper, red leaf lettuce, lemon
30 oz. watermelon juice

Total Intake: 138 oz. - more than a gallon of liquids!

It was really hard to drink all this juice! And yet it was easy. Let me explain - the juice was tasty, but there was so much to drink! Fortunately I kept my stomach full all day, and it barely got hungry. As soon as it did get real and true hunger, I would have more juice.

Weight: 176.8

Regarding my weight: In 1998 I had been working out and eating a 50% raw diet without even knowing what "raw" was. At that time, I reached what I feel was my ideal weight of around 122-124 lbs. (I've got pictures, I'll post them later) I plan to lose around 50-60 pounds during the juice feast, and afterwards I will find out what my natural ideal weight should be. I know back then that I felt awesome at 124 lbs...but that was cooked 124 pounds, not raw. So what is my ideal weight? I still do not know, but I know I will feel it when it happens.

Body Measurements: I'll get my measurements tomorrow.

Exercise: My usual amount of daily activity as a busy girl, plus 5 minutes on the rebounder. Honestly I just wasn't in the mood for a lot of exercise today. I had energy, but I didn't want to get really hungry or exhausted. For the first few days here I am probably not going to do a lot of physical activity, and slowly work in my usual workout routine in the future.

Energy Levels: I woke up and had a pleasant amount of energy all day. I had only a few dips in energy that lasted about 5 minutes. I would rest a bit, and then I'd feel recharged and I'd be feeling good.

Emotions: I have been feeling happy all day today! A really nice gentle amount of happiness. I felt like the world was beautiful. Nothing too euphoric, just a genuine joy to be finally doing this, and feeling good about it.

Hours of Sleep: I had 8 full hours of sleep. I wasn't restless, but I did wake up a bit chilly as the temperature usually drops in our bedroom at night.

Dreams/ Lucid Dreaming: I had 2 solid dreams that I could recall in detail, plus I woke up with this feeling that I spent the whole night thinking about juice feasting...which has been a part of my dreams and sleep for the last 3 days. I hope that now that I am officially juice feasting that I can let my mind stop thinking about it all night and start dreaming about something else! No, really, its all good!

Detoxification symptoms: I have had the tiniest headache I can remember. Just so itty bitty teeny tiny headache. I realize that this is usually a symptom of dehydration and hunger, so I have been drinking liquids as much as possible.

Positive Changes to note: Besides feeling great, nothing to report.

Food cravings:

Chocolate pudding (my recipe)
Heidi's secret cheesy sauce (my recipe)

These were not quite cravings, but rather this food was in front of me as JS was making it for himself, and I noticed that I would not be eating it. Otherwise I was so enjoying my juice that I didn't really care about other food!

Misc.

Last night before I started the juice feast, I had a headache, and I wasn't feeling well. So JS wanted to surprise me, and while I took a nap he went into the kitchen and organized it and did a bit of cleaning to get it all ready for the juice feast! What a surprise! He was such a sweetie!

This morning I made him a really yummy looking green smoothie. Normally I would taste it, but he had to have the final taste. It's funny - I made this giant smoothie, and only afterwards did I realize that I had just made a smoothie that would normally feed both of us. No wonder it was so big! Fortunately JS thought it was tasty, and he ate it as his main meal throughout the day!

I'll have to remember to make smaller amounts whenever I make food for him, as I will be making recipes for one!

All in all, today was an amazingly simple and beautiful day.

It was a very gentle way to begin things.

Oh my, I have so much more to say, but it will have to wait for tomorrow! Oh! I took a few photos of my first time juicing using the Vita-Mix...I'll post them tomorrow. Good stuff ahead!

I love you even more now that you posted your weight to the world! When I started my program on Jan. 1st, you and I weighed the same! I have now lost just about 11 pounds and I am thrilled. You'll surpass me in no time on this juice feast. I drink all day until dinner and that has really kicked my weight loss into gear.
I applaud you for undertaking such a life changing project!
