Amazing Grace [Raw Book Review]

Amazing Grace Book Review

When we first read Amazing Grace, the latest book from raw food superstar David Wolfe and co-authored by fellow superhero Nick Good, we were not even sure if it was an appropriate book to review for this blog.

You see, even though this book has been co-written by David Wolfe, it is not really a raw food book per se. That's not to say that there isn't raw food information scattered throughout this book, but it's certainly not directly about the raw food diet. (And it most certainly isn't a raw food recipe book, if that's what you're looking for.)

If it's not a raw food book, then what is this book really about?

How do we describe a book that people think might be a raw food book but it is something else entirely? Hmmm.

Let's start with the subtitle: "The Nine Principles of Living in Natural Magic".

Got it?

Ok, maybe that really doesn't help us describe the book any more clearly. What are the Nine Principles? What do they mean by Natural Magic...and what does this have to do with raw food?

A Little Non-Fiction, A Little Fiction, A Lot of Neither

Maybe we will just let the authors describe this book for themselves, as written on the back cover of Amazing Grace:

"Amazing Grace is not fiction nor non-fiction, neither fact nor fantasy. Amazing Grace is an experience you create as you discover your true destiny here upon our Earth -- the best planet ever."
Simply put, this is not an ordinary book, but with a description like that, you know it's going to at least be a fun ride!

Instead of giving a standard book review for this powerful piece of work (and in the spirit of the book), we are going to only leave you with questions and you will have to read the book yourself to understand what it's all about.

Let's start here: The book has one central idea. The book also does not have one central idea.

Confused again?

Maybe it's best to explain it by giving you some concepts and ideas from a variety of sources (warning: lots of wild links to follow):

For example, have you ever listened to Coast to Coast AM?

Have you ever been a member of TheBestDayEver.com?

Have you studied Ho'Oponopono?

Have you taken Ormus?

Have you ever been guided by a shaman on an intense journey via a powerful beverage like Ayahuasca?

How about buying a ticket to an alien space ship...made just for you?

Does all this sound crazy? It is out of your comfort zone? Or, maybe this is "old hat" to you. Maybe you've read more "New Age" books than the publisher, North Atlantic Books, has even heard of. Or maybe you are a purveyor of wild websites on the Internet.

We were familiar with almost all of the information contained in Amazing Grace before we read it, but the information is organized in such a different way that it put pieces together, and made connections that we have never thought of before.

This Book Isn't Just Wild and Fancy Ideas...It's Practical Too

Throughout the book, each of these wild topics and ideas are touched upon and interwoven inside their beautiful presentation of what they call "The Nine Principles of Living in Natural Magic."

The Nine Principles of Living in Natural Magic are the foundation upon which they structure the book and deliver their message. They are succinct, inspirational, and drawn from both of the authors' many, many years of experience in a variety of cutting-edge topics. (Such as raw food...see, there is some raw food in there!)

As the story develops in the book, if you run across various concepts and ideas that you are interested in taking action on, you will be provided with links to websites at the end, as well as book and website suggestions for further reading. Following any one of these paths will help you to get you started on some of the tools and techniques described throughout this written journey.

So...What's This Book About Again?

We can't quite tell you.

Even though it may sound like we're playing with you, this book is an experience, and must be experienced first hand in order to fully grasp and be inspired by the concepts and ideas set forth by David and Nick.

Everyone will have a different experience while and after reading this book. For example, after Heidi read the book, she had a slightly different take on it than when JS read the book. We both saw different things, and felt inspired by different aspects of the book. But one thing is the same: both of us were inspired. We were uplifted by the experience. And the biggest part of the book is that both of us wanted to read Amazing Grace again. In fact, we both felt we "had" to read it again.

There was so much more to digest.

Luckily, we had already been exposed to so many of the concepts presented in this book. This helped us get a deeper understanding of where the authors are taking the reader. If you've never been exposed to anything most of the world would label "fringe", let this review serve as a warning that there is more out there than meets the eye.

A Superhero's Journey

We will tell you one thing. Throughout this book, everything is offered for what perhaps may be the challenge to the reader: To become your own modern superhero.

As kids, most of us want to be superheroes. JS loved Spider-Man. Heidi had a fondness for Sailor Moon and the X-Men, and now it is time that more of us interested in the raw food movement step it up a notch and become the true superheroes that we are. Amazing Grace is a great start to the beginning of any raw superhero journey. Or it could be just what you need to develop your next level of "superpowers".

Just Read It, Have Fun, and Have the Best Day Ever

Whatever your background, if you are at all interested in reading a wild journey and expanding your mind, then Amazing Grace may be just the journey for you. And even if you don't want to be a superhero, this book is one wild ride! Sit down in your favorite comfy chair, while sipping on a mind-expanding cacao beverage, and be prepared to keep reading until you've gotten to page 196 on this literary journey. After you are done you might want to start over and read it again. And again.

And remember, as the authors state in Amazing Grace, "The Truth is always stranger than fiction."

~ Raw Food Right Now

P.S. Perhaps the concept of the raw superhero may be where the raw food diet is leading all of us...?

P.P.S. There is a story in the book as to why the title is Amazing Grace. It's quite a breathtaking story. You have to read the book to find out the story of Amazing Grace.

I wouldn't have known where to begin to review Amazing Grace....as always, you have done a beautiful job of setting the stage, leaving readers with intrigue and interest (or maybe not), and touching on the highlights without going too deep.

I also just noticed the new RFRN Radio ad...so cool!!

I love you guys!

I definitely, definitely want my own custom made space ship!

Seriously, though, my dear, thanks for your super review of this book.

I think I'll pass on the cosmic cucumber snacks this time around the sun! But loved your playfulness.

Thanks, my lovelies!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I got a lot out of the more esoteric material in the Sunfood Diet Success System, and actually, eating raw is part of my own plan to become a Superbeing, so this is perfect! ;-)
