David Wolfe and Gabriel Cousens Coast to Coast AM Interview Recap
David Wolfe and Dr. Cousens have just finished up their interviews on Coast to Coast AM tonight and, as promised, here is our recap for those of you who did not get a chance to listen:
General Recap:
Both David and Dr. Cousens were only on for a half hour each tonight on a show that was touted to be an "alternative health" roundtable of sorts.
They both spoke briefly about whatever host George Noory and co-host of the night, Christian Wilde, asked of them.
If you have listened to a lot of David Wolfe and Dr. Cousens over the past couple years, there is no new information for you here. The interview was for a broad audience, which was to be expected...and for Coast to Coast AM, that means 16 million listeners worldwide!
Specific Recaps:
Dr. Gabriel Cousens:
- Dr. Cousens spoke mostly about his current work on curing type II diabetes at the Tree of Life center.
- Typically, most people who come to be treated for type II diabetes are off their medication and can have a normal blood sugar level in an astounding 2-4 days.
- He starts everyone off with a seven day green juice fast, much like what we have all seen over at JuiceFeasting.com, ran by one of Dr. Cousens most esteemed graduates, David Rainoshek and his partner Katrina.
- In fact, he recommends that everyone (non-diabetics) go on a seven day green juice fast twice a year for their health.
- Dr. Cousens also spoke of calorie restriction, specifically mentioning that the less you eat, the longer you live. The less one eats, the body responds by turning on the anti-aging (anti-inflammatory and anti-diabetic) genes, as long as one is eating live foods.
- What are the big causes of type II diabetes? #1 is sugar, and #2 is animal protein (meat and dairy).
- When Dr. Cousens speaks of "curing" diabetes, he is speaking of returning the body to a normal physiology without diabetes medications.
- You can find out more about Dr. Cousens research and diabetes program (which he hosts twice a year) by visiting TreeOfLife.nu or getting a copy of his book There is a Cure for Diabetes.
David Wolfe:
- David Wolfe spoke mostly about, yup, superfoods.
- Specifically, he spent a considerable amount of time on his favorite topic: raw chocolate, or cacao as we all know it. If you haven't heard, cacao is the highest anti-oxidant food (621 on the ORAC scale) and is the highest form of naturally occurring magnesium in any food.
- David says that the main reasons superfoods work, is that they pre-load our bodies with what they need to build a strong immune system.
- Superfoods are easy and can offer an immediate response that you can feel.
- David told the audience his main focus is on peak performance: how can we feel even better than we do now?
- Sleep: The less you eat, the more energy you have, the less you need to sleep. But in order to eat less, you need food with a higher nutrient density in order to satisfy the body's desire for food.
- He repeated his specific recommendation for getting started is to add things into your diet when and where you can.
- Starting out or for those that want the most bang for their buck, add in the top 5-6 superfoods and herbs. He mentioned a few of his favorite mushrooms: astragalus, reishi, maitake, shiitake.
- He also spoke about the film Simply Raw, which he and Gabriel Cousens took six type II diabetic people and, well...see the movie to find out (trust us, it's all good)! If you go their and buy a copy, they will donate an additional copy to a diabetic organization.
- Honey: Organic honey industry is not (or very little) affected by the current honey bee problem. Support organic honey!
- And the newest piece of info that we had not heard of until tonight: he's writing a book on goji berries!
We will be writing an upcoming review of There is a Cure for Diabetes on RFRN soon as well.
